Square Enix Unveils Patch 7.1 ‘Crossroads’ for Final Fantasy XIV Online

Square Enix has announced Patch 7.1, titled “Crossroads,” for Final Fantasy XIV Online, scheduled for release in mid-November 2024. This patch follows the fifth expansion, Dawntrail, and was revealed during the Tokyo Game Show 2024’s Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast.
Key features of Patch 7.1 include:
- Continuation of the main scenario quest
- First part of the FINAL FANTASY XI crossover alliance raid series, titled “Echoes of Vana’diel”
- New Dungeon: Yuweyawata Field Station
- New Trials: The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden and The Jade Stoa (Unreal) against Byakko
- High-difficulty 24-player alliance raid: The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic)
- New Ultimate Raid: Futures Rewritten (Ultimate)
- New Allied Society Quests: Focused on the Pelupelu
- New Hildibrand Quest Series: Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures
- Game+ Support: Replay main scenario and job quests from Patch 7.0
- Player Housing Update: Select interior designs from different areas
- Miscellaneous Updates: Includes additional training for battle mechanics and NPC voiceovers for Doman Mahjong
With over 30 million registered players, it’s a great time for newcomers. The Free Trial now includes content from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood expansions, offering hundreds of hours of gameplay without a time limit.

Destiny 2: Revenant Arrives October 8

In a recent livestream, the Destiny 2 development team shared details about Destiny 2: Revenant, launching on October 8. Viewers got a first look at new features like tonic brewing, the Onslaught: Salvation activity, new weapons, and Artifact perks. The stream also hinted at story developments, including the return of major figures from the Destiny universe.
Additionally, the team introduced Codename: Frontiers, a new content model set for 2025. This will bring two medium-sized expansions each year and four major free updates, focusing on non-linear storytelling and gameplay innovation. Players can expect impactful narrative shifts and significant changes to armor, including new stat ranges and set bonuses.
Destiny 2: Revenant launches on October 8, with the new dungeon Vesper’s Host and a Dungeon Race in partnership with Twitch Rivals on October 11.

Exoborne Closed PC Test Announced

Sharkmob, developers of the upcoming tactical open-world extraction shooter Exoborne, have announced a new Closed Test for the game. Players in Europe and North America can sign up for a chance to participate in the test, which runs on PC from October 10 to October 24. All content will be under NDA.
This is the first opportunity for European players to experience Exoborne’s intense extraction gameplay, set in a world transformed by apocalyptic forces. Sharkmob follows a “test early – test often” development strategy and encourages players to sign up on the official website to help shape the game.
